The Big Island has more coastline than any other Hawaiian island. That means lots more opportunities for ocean adventure. Snorkelers and scuba divers love our clear, pristine waters and amazing variety of colorful reef fish and turtles. Sailors (and para-sailors) love our offshore breezes. Fishermen love our deep-sea treasure trove of gamefish. Whale-watchers love our wintertime humpback visitors and the sperm, pygmies and false killer whales that are here year-round.
The ocean around the Big Island is a giant playground offering countless opportunities for fun—outrigger canoeing, kayaking, deep-sea fishing, sailing, fishing, whale-watching, snorkeling scuba-diving, surfing, body-surfing, body-boarding, wind-surfing, kite-surfing, parasailing, beach-combing. We even have submarine excursions! And don’t forget the fine art of dozing on the beach.
